How we began...
After a chance conversation over lunch with a friend, founding Music Director John Arsenault, and founding Artistic Director Jeanine Fynn formed DragonDiva in 2007 for our premiere production, The Pirates of Penzance. With little more than a hope, a prayer, and a VISA card, our cast of students, professionals and community participants performed to a sold out house for five of our six shows, with glowing audience reviews - some even returned for a second and third viewing! Six years later, we are entering our seventh season stronger than ever, and excited to share the vision that is DragonDiva with all of you.
We are a registered non-profit society, run by a small volunteer board of directors. We offer high end community theatre at a reasonable price, in the hopes that we will draw a new audience into the world of opera. We are thrilled to be co-producing our show again this year with the Evergreen Cultural Centre, who opened their doors to us last summer and have graciously asked us to return again this summer. We will also be returning to the invite-only Gabriola Theatre Festival.
We are grateful to the members of the community who helped us as we began to spread our wings, especially the
Vagabond Players and The Arts Council of New Westminster.
