We are a fresh and exciting company providing opportunities that fill the gap between student and professional for young singers. We also feel it is important to bring opera to an audience that would otherwise not see it - either because of location, or because of the elitist ideal that opera can sometimes hold. As such, we choose pieces that are accessible to a wider audience, appropriate for children, in English, or with English surtitles, and we focus on bringing opera and operetta to smaller communities who may not yet have the opportunity to see similar performances.
Formed in 2007 for our premiere production, The Pirates of Penzance, DragonDiva is quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with. John Arsenault, founding Music Director, and Jeanine Fynn, founding Artistic Director, have both discovered the joy that producing and directing can bring. Our cast of students, professionals and community participants performed to a sold out house for five of our six shows, with glowing audience reviews - some even returned for a second and third viewing! We offer high end community theatre at a reasonable price, in the hopes that we will draw a new audience into the world of opera.
